Clarice E Smith Bayliss, 99, of Hurricane WV died peacefully Oct 25, 2017 at the Broadmore Senior Living of Teays Valley where she resided for the last several years.

Clarice was born Oct 3, 1918 in Hurricane WV to Charles Otis and Bertha Mae Scott Smith who preceded her in death also preceding her was her husband J M Howard Bayliss, daughter Joy Bayliss Cooksey, son Jim D Bayliss, Sisters; Ruth Kinder, Thelma McElroy, Dorothy Handley, brothers Basil (Red) Smith, Obie (OB) Smith, and son-in-law Steve Whitworth. Survivors include her son John M H Bayliss Jr (fiancée Susan McCracken) of Hurricane WV and Ormond Beach FL., daughter Jill Bayliss Whitworth of Gulfport Fl., son-in-law James Cooksey of Ormond Beach Fl., daughter-in-law Sue Bayliss St Albans WV, grandsons, John M H Bayliss III (Anna) and Shawn Bayliss (Melissa) of Hurricane WV, Howard Cooksey (Marsha) of Ormond Beach FL., granddaughters Stephanie Burkhart (Keith) of Indianapolis, IN., Stacey Whitworth of St Petersburg, FL., 2 great granddaughters, 5 great grandsons, 2 step great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

After her graduation from Hurricane High School she attended Charleston School of Business before her marriage.  After raising her family, she went on to graduate from University of South Florida with a degree in education, she was also a real estate agent

She was a member of Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church of Hurricane WV and the Central United Methodist Church of St Petersburg FL

A celebration of Clarice's life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct 28 at Allen Funeral Home 2837 Main St Hurricane WV with visitation 2 hours prior. Interment will follow at Mt Vernon Cemetery on Mt Vernon Rd across from the Mt Vernon Baptist Church in Teays Valley

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Clarice to Hospice, Alzheimer's, or cancer society

The family would like to give special thanks to all the care givers at Broadmore Senior Living Memory Care unit for all the love they bestowed to Clarice and to Hospice for all their dedication to all the help they give to making our loved ones comfortable in their final stages of life.
