Wanda “Kay” White, 85, passed away on August 22, 2024, in Nelsonville, Ohio. Born on February 15, 1939, in Milton, WV, she was the daughter of Eschol and Maxine White. Kay was a cherished member of her community and a dedicated nurse who served at St. Luke's Hospital in Racine, WI, for over 32 years. She spent her career in labor and delivery and the nursery, ultimately fulfilling her lifelong dream by working in the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit after earning her RN degree.
Kay graduated from Barboursville High School and later attended Gateway Technical College, where she pursued her nursing education. Her commitment to nursing was deeply rooted in a childhood dream, and she found her work in the NICU immensely rewarding.
Outside of her professional life, Kay was passionate about gardening and reading. She also loved spoiling her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
She is survived by her loving family: Teresa Lange, Brent ( Elena) Hawkins, Robin (Rob) Rose, Sherri (Kevin) Blodgett, Christopher Lange, Sarah Hawkins, Karen Ferber, Samantha Hawkins, and Rebekah (Shawn) Rose. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Eschol and Maxine White; her siblings, Darrell White, Nelson White, Barbara (Jack) Young, and Ronnie White; and her grandson, Steven Steinke.
Services will be held at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Milton, WV. Viewing is scheduled from 12-2 PM with a service to follow at 2 PM on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane, WV, is assisting the family with arrangements. Kay's life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
