Vanessa Louise Chatterton, 72, of St. Albans, West Virginia went home to be with our Lord Jesus after a long illness on December 6, 2024.
Vanessa was proceeded in death by her parents Rev. Kelson Ray Bays and Erma Jewel Bays; brothers Gregory Brent Bays and Stevenson Ray Bays.
She is survived by her daughter April Nettleton (Mark) of St. Albans, granddaughters Emma Simpkins (Drew) of Ona, Jessica Nettleton of Montgomery, and brother Tim Bays of Delano, CA, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Vanessa was a graduate of Hurricane High School in 1969. She then went on to be a beautician. After this, she went to nursing school. She worked thirty years as a nurse in various hospitals and doctor’s offices in Florida and West Virginia. She then became a patient advocate for special needs children and adults.
Vanessa was a musician and vocalist. She was always singing or playing the piano anywhere she could. She sang in several groups, and individually since a young age. Vanessa was very strong in her faith. She loved the Lord, and her heart showed it.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 4:00 til 5:00 on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 with a Memorial Service beginning at 5:00 at Allen Funeral Home.
