Thomas W. Szepelak

March 31, 1953 – August 14, 2023

After a battle with cancer, Thomas Szepelak went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2023 from his home in West Virginia.  Tom was an exceptional husband, father, brother, son, and friend and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Tom grew up in Minooka, Illinois and attended the University of Illinois studying Mechanical Engineering.  He was a master at his craft at home and abroad.  A world-traveler, he was a consulting engineer visiting Morocco, China, New Caledonia, Chile, and the continental United States during his career.

He loved to spend time at the Szepelak family farm and work on projects, preserving what his parents created, and keeping everything in tip-top shape.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, music, playing pinochle and working around the house. Tom had a vast knowledge of old movies and enjoyed sharing this love with his children and family.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy, his son Greg, his daughter Rachel and his son-in-law Chris, his grandson Isaac, and his daughter Katherine and his son-in-law Andrew.  Also, his siblings, Mike, John and Peggy, Wayne, Christine and Bill, Anita and Rick, and Donna and Mark, sister-in law Sue and brother-in-law Bob, brother-in-law Dave and sister-in-law Marlene and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Preceded in death by his parents Edward and Jeanette Szepelak and his brother Robert (Bobby).

Visitation will be held at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane, WV, on Saturday, August 19th from 1-3 pm.
