Syvia Louise (Manning) Sowards, 79, of Hurricane, departed from this life to join our Lord in Heaven on August 24, 2025, following a short illness. She passed at Saint Mary’s Medical Center with her daughter by her side.
Louise was a lifelong resident of Hurricane and a 1963 graduate of Hurricane High School. She was a longtime employee of Miller Drug Store (later, Fruth Pharmacy) in Hurricane.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Sowards) Hardy; son-in-law Kurt; and grandsons William and Jackson, all of Wesley Chapel, Fla. She is pre-deceased by her mother, Hester (Mitchell) Manning; father, William “Minor” Manning; sister, Joyce Manning; and husband, Garry Sowards.
A public viewing will be held at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, followed by a memorial service at 11. Burial will be at noon at Forest Memorial Park, 2240 U.S. Route 60 W., Milton. In lieu of flowers, guests are invited to donate in Louise’s name to the charity of their choice.
