Roger Keith Guest of Cross Lanes, West Virginia was born December 16, 1952, in Dallas, Texas. He went to his Heavenly Home on February 3, 2024, with his wife Carolyn and fur-baby Tessa by his side. Roger was only 71 years of age.
Roger is survived by his wife, life & business partner, and the love of his life Carolyn James of the home, his devoted blue heeler Tessa, his brother Noel “Robbie” Guest of Texas, his sons Justin Guest, Nathan Guest and Derek Guest of Texas, His chosen sisters Angela Franko and Linda Katherine Franko of Texas and extended family members and loyal friends.
Roger was predeceased in death by his father Everett Guest and mother Wilma Guest Ring.
Roger was a graduate of WW Samuel High School. He studied at the School of Trial and Error where he excelled in Life’s Lessons. He embodied the best qualities of unconditional love, strength of spirit, unending generosity, and the gift of gab. He never knew a stranger.
Roger spent his life working in the transportation industry. He started his career as a dock worker and driver. Never satisfied with the status quo, he was constantly learning from those around him until he eventually started his own brokerage. He retired in 2022, only to be right back at his desk the next day.
Never one to sit still, Roger loved country dancing, horseback riding, square dancing on horseback, jet-skiing, and kayaking. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved a good party. Oh, the stories that could be told, both by him and on him.
Roger was active at St. Timothy-in-the-Valley Episcopal church where he served as Junior Warden. He was one of the founding members of Neighbors Feeding Neighbors, a non-profit food program hosted by St. Timothy's in-the-Valley.
A Celebration of Roger’s Life will be held on Saturday March 2nd at St. Timothy’s in-the-Valley Episcopal Church in Hurricane, WV. Visitation will be 11:30 am – 12 pm with the service beginning at 12 pm. A devoted foodie, a reception in honor of Roger will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, Carolyn asks if you would contribute to his favorite program Neighbors Feeding Neighbors. Donations may be made in Roger’s name to Neighbors Feeding Neighbors / St. Timothy's in-the-Valley Episcopal Church, PO Box 424, Hurricane, WV 25526.
