Raymond Dale Lewis

Raymond Dale Lewis, 76, of Hurricane, WV. While surrounded by his family, went home to be with The Lord on Thursday, February 9, 2023. 

He was proceeded in death by his father, Everett F. Lewis, his mother Kathleen V. Lewis, brothers Gary M. Lewis and Ronald S. Lewis, son Everett Boyd Lewis and grandson Justin Michael Deem. 

He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley Lewis, daughters Phyllis (Michael) Deem of Syracuse, Ohio, Heather (RJ) Vanater of Milton, WV, son Gary Lewis (fiancé Lisa Fullbright) of Charleston, WV, 8 grandchildren, Madeline Lewis, James Kintz, Ashley Deem, Michael Lewis, Carolann Lewis, Matthew Lewis, Russell Lewis and Kawman Vanater. 

Raymond leaves behind many memories for his family and friends to cherish in this next chapter of their lives. He was known for his patriotism, his volunteering, and his willingness to step into roles and projects that served many. 

Raymond served as a Boatswains Mate-3rd Class in the United States Navy and served his country in the Vietnam war. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Raymond retired from US Foodservice after 39 years with the company. 

He along with his wife Shirley had been involved in the Hurricane Baseball League, VFW Post 9097 and American Legion as well as members of the former Royal Oaks Resort in Pomeroy, Ohio. 

Family and friends remember Raymond as a provider, protector and great outdoorsman. He was always eager to learn and could oftentimes be found reading, studying and researching various topics and subjects. 

The Family will have a Celebration of Life Service Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11:00am at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2440 US-60, Hurricane, WV 25526
