Penny Jean (McCallister) Wingo, 67, of Hurricane went home to be with her Lord on March 22, 2023 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Penny was born on February 16, 1956 to the late Don and Della McCallister. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her in-laws, John and JoAnn Wingo, her sister-in-law, Linda (Wingo) Duncan, and her nephew, Scottie Duncan.
Penny graduated from Hurricane High School in 1974. She was a long-time employee of Putnam General Hospital/CAMC Teays Valley Hospital and a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Hurricane. She was a loving and devoted wife, mom, and Nana, and a friend to many.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Frank Paul Wingo; daughter, Melissa Melton; son-in-law, Billy Melton; granddaughter, who hung the moon in her Nana’s eyes, Kaylee Melton; sister, Helena (Danny) Pieh; brother, Don (Nancy) McCallister, Jr.; brother-in-law, Larry (Michelle) Wingo, life-long best friend, Patty Thomasson; and many nieces and nephews who were so special to her.
Penny’s family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Celebration Villa for the compassion and care they provided during her stay.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Prevett officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12 til 1 prior to the service.
