Mary Aiello Obituary

Mary Louise Aiello, 95, formerly of Clarksburg, WV, died February 15, 2021, at the Shining Starr Care Home, Hurricane, W.V., where she had recently resided since December 8, 2020.
She was the wife of Michael A. Aiello, who preceded her in death on October 31, 2001. They were married for 57 years. Mary was born January 25, 1926, daughter of the late Frank Gawthrop and Ollie Lannan Gawthrop Deninger.

She attended schools in Taylor County and graduated from Roosevelt Wilson High School, Clarksburg. Upon graduation she worked at the Garden Fresh Market, where she met “Mike”, the love of her life. She worked many years as a department manager at the Heck’s Department Store, Bridgeport, WV. Upon moving to Frederick, Md., she also worked as a cashier at Selby Markey, Poolesville, Md., for several years before retiring.

Mary was feisty, humorous and very meticulous in everything she did. She was a “great” cook and baker. She was more than generous providing family, friends and coworkers with specific pies and cakes for each individual. You never left her home with an empty stomach or arms.

She is survived by her children: Kathy Losh and husband, Rev. Jerry Losh of Culloden, WV (whom she had made her home for the last 4 ½ years), Robert “Bobby” Aiello and wife Paula of Horntown, VA, Margaret Ann “Marg” Harman and husband Roger of Clarksburg, WV, and Cheryl Aiello and friend Loria Wall of Inwood, WV; Grandchildren: Debby Jones, Jeff Losh, Greg Losh, Dawn Peay, Felicia Galentine, Michael Aiello, Chris Harman, Scott Harman, Julie Finster-Anglin, Bryan Harman and Paul Michael Short; Step-grandchildren: Stephanie Wall, Dustin Church, Elizabeth Starliper and Ada Ki-Gaines. She was blessed beyond measure with many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a very “Special” sister-in-law and friend, Katherine “Katy” Lannan of Clarksburg.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having being preceded in death by: three brothers: Paul Lannan, Joseph “Joe” Lannan, and James “Jim” Gawthrop; and two sisters: Margaret Lannan and Frances Garrison.

Mary and Mike started attending church with their young family at Baptist Temple, Clarksburg, where they were saved and baptized. They later became members of the Oak Mound Evangelical Church, Clarksburg for many years. She was very proud and enjoyed traveling to listen to the Christian quartets, which Mike was the bass singer.

Moving to Frederick, Md, later in life they both attended Parkway Community Church, Poolesville, Md. Her last home church was the First Baptist Church of Hurricane, WV.

Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV on Monday, February 22, 2021 from 11am until the funeral hour at 1pm with Pastor Jeff Davenport presiding. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
