Mary Margaret Smith 68 of Hurricane went home to be with her heavenly father on July 21st 2024. Margaret was a very special lady who cared for everyone and every living thing. She had all of us spoiled in her own way. With Margaret it didn’t matter how short or how long you stayed to visit, she always ended the visit with “love you guys”.
Margaret retired from Lincoln County Library where she worked as head Librarian for many years. While she was working, she started a literacy program to help people in the community learn to read and write resumes to obtain employment. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, camping, and attending church. Margaret was a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church where she found new brothers and sisters in Christ.
Margaret was married to her best friend Ron, of 47 years. They spent their last 20 years together on the farm where they worked very hard to make it their own. This is where Margaret found her love for animals. She enjoyed her cows, chickens, horses and her puppy dog. All these animals will also miss her deeply.
She is proceeded in death by her stepfather Charles (Pop) Persinger, brother John Bowery and brother-in-law John Smith.
Margaret is survived by her mother, Rose Persinger, loving husband Ron, sons Chip and Christopher, sister Betty Goff, brother Charlie Goff, granddaughter Abby, daughter-in-law Chelsea, and future grandson-in-law Caleb. Other close family members include Billy Smith, Michael Smith (Paula), Joel Smith (Dee), Shirley Davidson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 25th, 2024, from 11:00-1:00 with the service to follow at 1:00 PM at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane, WV. David Vickers will be officiating.
