Rev. Kenneth Eugene Markham, 77, of Hurricane went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at home after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
He retired from the South Charleston Stamping Plant where he served as president of the United Auto Workers Union. Kenneth was the former pastor at Prayer and Faith Wesleyan Church where he was a member and attended faithfully for his entire life until his illness when he became a member of The Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene in Hurricane, West Virginia.
Kenneth graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1962. He was the owner of the King Printing Company in Charleston. He was an avid lover of NASCAR and competed in drag racing most of his life. Kenneth was a Ham Radio operator with call sign (KB8RZJ) and a member of the Corvette and GTO clubs, where he made numerous friends.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents Silbern and Ednah Markham, brothers Harold and Earnest (Paul), along with sisters Mary Carney, Helen Allums, Glenna Jones, and LouAllen Markham.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Eunice F. (Summers) Markham, Daughters: Edna Carmail Hall and husband Steve of Virginia and Tina Eugenia Burroughs and husband Steve of Hurricane,WV. Ken had 4 grandchildren that he adored and was a wonderful Papaw to: Natasha Flowers and husband David of Frasier's Bottom, WV, Jonathan Nelson and wife Courtney of Charleston, WV, Maretta Nelson of Hurricane, WV and Kearn Brown of Milton, WV. He was never prouder than he was when he became a Great-Grandpa to his Great-Grandson: Kristofer Nelson. He is also survived by his brothers: James Markham of Akron, Ohio and Meredith Markham of Point Blank, Texas as well as his sister Margie Poulson, and a host of nieces , nephews, family, and friends.
Kenneth will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved his Lord Jesus above all else.
Memorial service for Kenneth will be held at 2p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Hurricane First Church Of the Nazarene with grandson, Pastor Jonathan Nelson, officiating.
