Kathryn Lucas Obituary

Kathryn Joy Lucas, 71, of Knoxville, TN (Proctorville, OH)
It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of my beloved mother, Kathryn Joy Lucas, who departed this world on January 22nd, 2025.  Kathy passed in Port Charlotte, FL while on an RV excursion.
Mom will be missed dearly by her son Samuel Baldasano (Katie), Knoxville, TN and is survived by her son Christopher Lucas (Kim) in Dover, DE., Mimi will be sadly missed by her grandbaby Aubree Marie Baldasano and her newly born grandson, Luka Coen Baldasano both residing in Knoxville, TN., Kathy is also survived by her brothers, Randy Lucas (Laberta) and John Lucas. Kathy also leaves behind a multitude of family and friends that were impacted by her kind words and friendships.
She is preceded in death by her father Charles Lucas Jr, her mother, Nelma “Bunny” Dunaway, her brothers Thomas Lucas and Mike Lucas and her sister Lisa Dillon.
Kathy attended Milton High School and was a proud alumnus of Marshall University, receiving her Regents Bachelor’s Degree in 1999. She retired from the Army Corps of Engineers after 30+ years of service. In retirement Kathy enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies and traveling the country in her RV.
Kathy was so proud of being on the Wheel of Fortune. She had the time of her life winning more than $25,000 and a trip to Puerto Rico! She was a member of the Barboursville American Legion Post 177 and Moose Lodge 2586 Chapter 2223. Kathy had a great passion for art and photography. When she wasn’t doing arts and crafts with Aubree in Knoxville, she was out pursuing her other passion of photography, to include “birding” in Florida.
“My mother’s love and wisdom will continue to guide us even in her absence. Her light will always shine brightly in our hearts and the hearts of those she touched.”
The “gathering of family and friends” for Kathy will be held at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane, WV this Saturday February 1, 2024, from 1pm till 3pm.  There is also a “Celebration of Life” being planned later in March around Kathy’s birthday.
