K. Gene Nelson Jr

​K. Gene Nelson Jr. went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 30, 2025 after a 
short illness. He was born to Kelly G. Nelson Sr. and Betty June Rice in 
Cleveland, OH on September 1, 1967. 
He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and attended Cross Lanes 
Baptist Church. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1986 and taught 
at the Charleston School of Beauty Culture. He worked at Health Team Critical 
Care Transport as an EMT  in Charleston. 
He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to fish 
when he had the opportunity. He was very helpful to others. 
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Martha Nelson, 
Clarence and Audra Canterbury, and several uncles. 
He is survived by his father, Kelly G. Nelson of Hurricane, mother, Betty 
June Rice of Foster, WV., Children, Trey (Emily),  Bobby, Danny (Jessica), and 
David. Grandchildren,  Shyanne, Kerrigan,  Ella,  Audralee, Kash, Keegan, 
Burklee, and Kingsley. 

Viewing will be from 6 til 8  on Tuesday June 10, 2025 at Cross Lanes Baptist Church and Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday June 11, 2025 at Providence Baptist Church on Rocky Step with gravesite service to follow.
