Joy Ann Burkett DeHart Thomas Ayers

Joy Ann Burkett DeHart Thomas Ayers, 69, of Elkview, WV went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 30, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Madison, WV on September 30, 1952. She was raised in Putnam County and graduated from Hurricane High School. She was preceded in death by her mother Augustene (Tena) Justice Burkett DeHart. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Anthony C. Thomas, her stepdaughter Jessica Ayers and a step grandchild.

Joy is a member of the Elkview Church of Christ in Elkview, WV.

Before retirement, she was an employee of the Department of Motor Vehicles Records Division. She was also a former employee of the United Talent Temporary Agency working at Union Carbide and Workers Compensation.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years Charley R. Ayers and stepfather Robert DeHart, Sr. She is survived by her siblings, Michael (Mickey) DeHart (Cristal), Teresa DeHart Hice (Bob), Robert (Bobby) DeHart (Benita)..

She is also survived by her children; Tina Thomas Habor (Brian), Melanie Thomas Davis (Paul), Robert Thomas (Brandy) and two stepchildren; Kimberly Patterson and Charley R. Ayers, Jr (Brittanie) She has nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren and three great grandchildren and her loving dog Mikey

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 on  Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home with Minister Kenneth Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park in Milton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
