Jessie Flanery

Jessie Calvin "Joe" Flanery rode off into the sunset one final time at the age 86 on August 28, 2024, in Hurricane, WV. Born on November 13, 1937, in Martin, KY, Joe lived a life dedicated to his family.  Joe also had four years of commendable Air Force Service and a distinguished career with C&P and AT&T.

Joe leaves behind his loving wife Barbara; sons Tim and his wife Katie; Tony and pets Reggie and Elly; Todd and his wife Sheri; daughter Mary and her husband Chris Sommerville; beautiful sisters, Doris, Nora, Flo, and loving brother, Bryan; eleven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. 

His family will hold dear the memory of his gentle spirit and fondly remember his dry, quick wit, an abounding love for cowboy westerns, deep interest in emerging technologies and a fresh cup of coffee.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Parley and Grace Flanery; his sisters Eunice "Sis" Hall, Emma "Goose' Pigman, Mavis Blair, and brother Billy James Flanery.

In keeping with Joe's private nature, a memorial service will be held for immediate family members. The family suggests that those wishing to express sympathy consider making a donation to Paws and Shop animal rescue in Hurricane, WV or Hospice Care West Virginia Hospice Care of Charleston, WV inrecognition of Joe's impact on their lives.

We bid farewell to Joe, a man whose dry humor and steadfast presence enriched the lives of all he touched. His legacy is one of love, laughter, level walls, and unwavering commitment to his family.
