Janet L Rowsey

Janet Lynn Rowsey, 67, of Hurricane, WV, went running through the gates of heaven on Dec 30, 2024 after a 30 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was a friend to many and an inspiration to anyone who ever met her. 

Jan was a 1975 graduate of Hurricane High School and graduated from Glenville State College in 1979 with degree in computer science.  

She was a lifelong member of Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church in Hurricane. 

She was employed by National Cash Register for a few years but spent the bulk of her career working for Fletcher Data Systems as a systems analyst where she designed business computer programs including one used by the West Virginia DMV for many years. 

She was born on October 18, 1957, in Hurricane to Donald and Carol Sovine Rowsey and lived most of her life in Hurricane.

 She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents; Virgil Rowsey and Hattie Rowsey and Howard Sovine and Thelma Sovine. 

She is survived by her mother and caregiver Carol; sister, LaDonna Rowsey also of Hurricane and her brother, Howard Rowsey and his wife Sharon of Parkersburg, WV.; niece, Courtney Dyer and four great nephews;  Greyson, Guy, Knox and Wesley as well as several cousins. 

She was blessed to have had great and devoted friends; Tish and Rick Wallace, Kylene Dunlap Brown, Alan Bays and Marty Wingate who have gone above and beyond in helping to care for her over the years. 

Visitation will be on Friday, January 3rd from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM with the funeral to follow at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church in Hurricane.  Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Hurricane. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to www.nationalmssociety.org or Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church.
