James Lewis Johnson Sr. 81, of Hurricane, WV died Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at home with his wife by his side. He was an Elder that served at three churches; Hopewell Primitive Baptist in Cross Lanes, Indian Fork in Culloden, and Leading Creek in Elkins. He was a painter and sandblaster by trade. Lewis was a loving Husband, Dad, Papaw, Uncle and Brother. He was very loved by his family and his love for them was reciprocated. His passion was to serve God in every way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mose and Lizzie, brothers Eldon, Layton and Cebert, sister Arbutus Carpenter, 3 unborn grandchildren and great grandson Olen James Skinner.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Jean Racer Johnson, his four sons; Jimmy and wife Terry, Timmy and wife Faye, Tracey and deceased wife Ruby, Thad and wife Nikki, one daughter Trina and husband Mike, adopted daughter Susie Hamrick; Brothers Willard, William, Harold and sisters Mae and Mamie. , 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 3 bonus grandchildren, 6 bonus great grandchildren, and lots of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 20, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home and burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 til 12 at Allen Funeral Home prior to the service.
