James M. Tolley, age 83, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Born and raised in Dunbar, James graduated from Dunbar High School but spent most of his life in Hurricane, WV, where he was very active in the community. As a member of the Jaycees, he planned and organized the largest Christmas parade in Hurricane’s history. James was also a Past Master of the Putnam Masonic Lodge #139 and a member of Charleston’s Shrine, supporting Shriners Hospitals for Children. He retired from ACF Industries and spent his final years in Boynton Beach, FL.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Otis S. Tolley and Zelma M. Withrow, his sister Shirley J. Ranson (Harold surviving) and niece M. Lynn Ranson. He is survived by his wife, Nancy M. Hodges Tolley, his sons, Brad (Aaron) and Jeff (Debbie) and his beloved grandchildren, Jessica and Madison Tolley. He also leaves behind his nieces, Tracy (Mark) Mangano and Lesa (Jim) Jones.
In accordance with his wishes, a graveside service for immediate family will be held. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
