Jacklyn "Jackie" Ann Oxley

Jackie Ann Oxley, 77, of Hurricane passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

She was born on July 25, 1946, daughter of David and Anna Allen. She graduated from Hurricane High School in 1964. Jackie was a devoted wife and mother. She retired from Putnam County Schools where she was known as “Mom” to many students. She is fondly remembered for cooking and hosting Friday night gatherings for the entire football and basketball teams at Hurricane Middle School and Hurricane High School. Jackie was a member of the Hurricane Baptist Church, and also enjoyed outings with the Girls of 64. She spent her retirement years traveling and was able to accomplish her goal of visiting all fifty U.S. States with an Alaskan Cruise.

Jackie is survived by her husband of sixty years Rodney D. Oxley of Hurricane, her son Dale Oxley and his wife Lesley of Charleston, her daughter Devin Oxley of Hurricane, her brother, Rodney Allen and his wife Diane of Huntington, her life long best friend, Susan Hayslett of Hurricane, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Scout.

Services will be held at Allen Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 1:00 with Rev. Jerry Losh officiating. Burial will follow at Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 – 1:00.
