Ginger Leigh Saunders, 54, of Hurricane, passed away on March 9, 2025, three weeks after a sudden and unexpected medical emergency. She was born June 3, 1970 in Charleston, WV. She was a life-long resident of Hurricane.
Ginger was a 1988 graduate of Hurricane High School. She enjoyed following the Redskins and loved helping the local teams with their orders at Hurricane Trophy. Ginger loved the beach and spending time by her pool soaking in the sunshine. She was a self-proclaimed homebody but enjoyed playing Yahtzee with her best friend every weekend.
If you met Ginger you couldn’t help but love her. She had such a good heart and was loved by so many, especially her family; she would do anything for anyone; but she was also a strong woman who stood up for herself and others with such passion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Saunders.
Ginger is survived by her two daughters, Madison and Macy Saunders who she loved beyond measure; parents, Richard and Sue Johnson, sister, Kim Salmons (Bill), brother Andy Johnson (Jennifer); sister-in-law Jane Saunders; nieces, Emily Hudson, Abigail Hudson, Jozee Johnson, Jenna Johnson & Ashlee Johnson; nephew, Andrew Johnson; her very best friend, Carrie Chaffin; her beloved beagle Woodstock and grand pup, Indigo, who knew her as GiGi.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15 at 2:00 pm at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm prior to the service.
