Gary Lee Hill

Gary Lee Hill, 79, from Milton, WV passed away on February 15, 2024, at St Mary’s Hospital, Huntington, WV with his loving wife and family members surrounding him.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Eustace Hill and Thelma (Blanche) Lovejoy Hill.  He was also preceded in death by brothers Ronald and Rodney Hill and by his sister Linda Hill Monk.  Surviving siblings  are Brenda Hill and Sandra Runyan. He was born in Lundale, WV.

In 1975, Gary married Sharon (Oney) Hill.  Most people will agree that if you saw one, the other was not too far away.  Closeness, love and respect was their recipe for a wonderful marriage.

Gary graduated from Hamlin WV high school in 1963.  Following that  he spent 4 years in the US Air Force.  He then was employed by Western Union and worked throughout the north mid-west states.  In 1967 he began his 32 years of  employment with British Airways – first at Kennedy Airport, NY and then Dulles, Washington.

While working full time, he attended and graduated from Nassau Junior College, Garden City, NY and attended George Mason U in Fairfax, VA.

Gary lived in Garden City, NY and Herndon and Reston, VA prior to his retirement.  After that, he and Sharon  returned to reside in WV.

Throughout his life, Gary was blessed with an inquisitive mind and wonderful memory.   Gary and   Sharon spent their leisure time on drives in the countryside, visiting National Parks,  travelling  throughout Western and Eastern Europe and Asia.

All who knew Gary were familiar with his great memory, wonderful wit, charitable mind,  empathy for others – and his numerous accidents.

He will be missed!
