Darrell G Rappold

Darrell Gene Rappold, 81, died at CAMC Memorial Hospital on September 28, 2021 in Charleston, WV, after a short illness. He was born on August 28, 1940 in Hurricane, WV, to Clyde “Pete” Rappold and Ruby Beckett Rappold. He married Joyce Hammack Rappold on February 16, 1963 and has been a lifelong resident of Hurricane.

Darrell had a love of music that he shared with his kids, grandkids, and fellow musician friends. He played many instruments and in various bands. He was a skilled mechanic who was able to fix anything. Always hospitable, he was always up for an impromptu “call all of your friends and invite them over” with a mentality of “the more, the merrier.” In his later years, he lost his vision and was unable to drive. This kept him confined to home. Nothing made his day more than a visit or a phone call.

He is survived by: son, Keith Rappold, of Hurricane; daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Jerry Kreps of Lincoln, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Shelia Rappold of Scott Depot; daughter and son-in-law Tina and Antony Roberts of Dublin, OH; grandchildren Lakan Rappold of Hurricane; Christian (Leah) Hale of Franklin, TN; Collin Roberts and Abby Roberts of Dublin, OH; Jordan Kreps of Lincoln, NE; Zachary Rappold of Hamlin; and Garrett Rappold of Scott Depot; great grandchildren Wesley and Wyatt Sowards of Hurricane; sister, Carolyn Rappold Handley.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Ruby Rappold, wife of 53 years, Joyce, and sister, Phyllis Rappold Swann.
