Darrell Keith Rappold, 62, died at Putnam Center in Hurricane on January 10, 2026, after a longillness. He was born on November 9, 1963 in Charleston, WV, to Darrell Gene Rappold and Joyce Lee Rappold and has been a lifelong resident of Hurricane.
A graduate of Hurricane High School Class of 1982, Keith had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back. During his younger, healthier years you could find him in the gym lifting weights and hanging out with his friends. He was the fun uncle and earned the title of “Uncle Buck,” which stuck with him throughout his life. As his health declined, he was always appreciative of the assistance he received through his caregivers and medical team. He loved to talk to his family and friends on the phone. He had just gotten his first iPad and was learning to FaceTime so he could see those he was talking with. He was always ready to tell a story, share a memory, and make you laugh. Though he was named Darrell after his dad he always said he knew when “his people” were calling because they knew him only as “Keith.”
He is survived by: sister and brother-in-law, Sherri and Jerry Kreps of Lincoln, NE; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Shelia Rappold of Scott Depot; sister and brother-in-law Tina and Antony Roberts of Dublin, OH; nieces/nephews: Lakan Rappold of Hurricane; Christian (Leah) Hale of Spring Hill, TN; Collin Roberts and Abby Roberts of Dublin, OH; Jordan Kreps of Lincoln, NE; Zachary Rappold of Hamlin; and Garrett Rappold of Scott Depot; great nephews Wesley and Wyatt Sowards of Hurricane; and Weston Hale of Spring Hill, TN.
He is preceded in death by his parents Darrell G. and Joyce Rappold, grandparents Clyde and Ruby Rappold, and Charles Lee and Bernice Hammack.
Keith will be cremated and a memorial service announced at a later date.
