Clarence Weeden Bess, Jr, 78, of Hurricane went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.
He was a Member of Forrest Burdette Mem. United Methodist Church where he served many members of the community through delivery of friendship bread to new visitors, he also served with the youth Reach Missions, Kairos Ministry at the Prisons, He was a 32deg Royal Arch Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and the Beni Kedem Shriners Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence W. Bess Sr. and Ruby Humphries Bess; sisters, Linda Lutes, Phillis Myers, Carolyn Sue Bess and brother Mark Bess as well as his doxi Missy.
He is survived by his wife, Harriett Jo Hudnall Bess; son, Eric R (Missy) Bess; daughter, Kirstyn M. (Joseph) Bess; bonus children Meredith J (John) Vance, Steven D (Tiffany) Miller, Kathryn H (Scott) Lowther; sisters, Deloris Jean Johnson of Scott Depot, Helen A (Richard) Schoolcraft of Cannelton, Marie (Mike) Comer of Cannelton, Marilyn (Allen) Butcher of Kimberly, Vicky Moore of St. Albans; brothers, Gary (Tina) Bess of Cannelton, Tim (Debbie) Bess of St. Albans, Richard (Becky) Bess of Cannelton. 11 grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews and family and friends.
Funeral Service will be 12:00 Wednesday, November 16,2022 at Forrest Mem. United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Kenaston officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Mem. Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 til 12 prior to the service.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to any of the following. Kanawha Hospice, Alzheimer’s Association or Forrest Burdette Mem. United Methodist Church.
