Charles "Duke" Raines

Charles K "Duke" Raines of Hurricane, WV was born March 25, 1931 and passed away on April 6, 2023 at the age of 92.

He was preceded in death by his Father Charles "Doc" Raines and Mother, Edna Raines, his brother Frederic Donovan Raines and a grandson Sean M Harris.

He will be missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Jeanni Raines who he truly loved and appreciated, Loving daughter Teresa Raines Harris and her husband Chris Harris. As well as a host of friends. He and Jeanni would sing "Have I told You Lately That I Love You?" to each other every day. Even in the hospital she leaned over and sang to him, and he joined in!

He retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers in Huntington, WV after 30 years.

Duke absolutely loved his family, life and telling jokes and stories. He enjoyed working around his property and "clearing brush and trees" with a couple of teenage helpers who always enjoyed being with him on the weekends. His beloved beagle "Dutchess" used to love eating ice cream cones and after working, all would load up in the 1950 Ford truck and drive through Dairy Queen I

Later in his life he enjoyed studying the Bible and appreciating the hope it showed for the future. He also enjoyed sharing these Bible truths with others by means of letters and talking to people when he could. He dedicated his life to Jehovah and on April 19, 2015, was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

There will be a Memorial Service on April 22, 2023, at 1:00 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 606 King St. Dunbar WV 25064-1400. For those not able to attend in person there will be arrangements for a Zoom tie-in. Please email jbentley135@suddenlink.net for login information. A private burial will be held in Valley View Cemetery at a late date.
