Carl Edward Smith Sr.

Carl Edward Smith, Sr., 92, of Conway, SC, formerly of West Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Carl was born on March 19, 1932, in Charleston, WV, to parents Joseph Smith and Nola McKemy.

Carl was a devout Christian who was a member of Maple Baptist Church. He also enjoyed attending Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nitro, West Virginia and Perrow Presbyterian Church in Cross Lanes, West Virginia.

Carl is survived by his son, Brian (Juliet) Smith; grandchildren, Brian J. (Heather) Smith, Shannon (Jackie) Stephenson, Candy (Huy Doan) Cai, Ben (Stephanie) Smith, Sam (Whitney) Smith, Eddie (Emily) Smith, Elijah (Lindsey) Smtih, Mandy (Glenn) Davis, Carol Smith, Kirstin (Shane) Unrue, and Lauren Smith; great-grandchildren, Emma, Becca, Brady, Shalyn, Cooper, Tyson, Ethan, Jacob, Leland, Micah, Bastian, Addison, Elle, Levi, Lucas, Elliot, Ivy, Skylar, Savannah, and Leighlah; brothers, Marvin (Maxine) Smith and Joe (Gloria) Smith; sisters, Norma Jarrett and Libby (Fred) Painter; and good friend Sara Viqoletti.

He is preceded in death by his wife Carol Ann Lilly Smith who passed in 1999; son Carl Edward Smith, Jr. who passed in 2012, and parents Joseph Smith and Nola McKemy.

A visitation will be held at Goldfinch Funeral Home in Conway on Tuesday, March 26, from 5:00-6:00pm. A funeral service will follow at 6:00pm with Rev, Gary Reaves officiating. West Virginia services will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home and funeral service at 11:00 on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Blair Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mt. Memorial Gardens.
