Cameron Lee Carney

Cameron Lee Carney, “Cam”, was born on May 10th 2004, passed away on October 23rd, 2023 from a vehicle accident. Cam had an infectious personality and was not only loved from his family, but also his Hurricane family as well. Cam helped lead the Hurricane family to their 2022 West Virginia High School Baseball Championship.

​Cam was a 2022 graduation of Hurricane High School and was just two weeks away from graduating Lineman School at Bridge Valley Community and Technical College. He was looking forward to graduating from this program and beginning the next chapter of his life.

Cam is survived by his parent’s mother Elizabeth (Digger) Shinault/Davis (spouse Kevin Davis) and Father Darin Carney (spouse Shannon Carney). Cam was also survived by brothers Michael Toney, Andrew Toney, Logan Jones and sister Jordan Jones; uncle Greg Carney (spouse Lori Carney); cousins Blake and Whitney Carney; niece Aydrien Toney; grandparents Lee and Jean Carney and Patsy Shinault, along with many other special family members and the entire Hurricane community that he dearly loved. Preceded in death by Grandfather Otto Shinault and Great-Grandmother Oschel Carney.

​Cam was most known for being the light that brightened any room he walked into. His laughter, sense of humor, ear-to-ear smile, and sarcasm could make anybody smile for hours after talking to him. Even if you were the butt of his jokes. He prioritized his relationships with his family and his friends above all else. His favorite past times were hunting at his grandparents, visiting his friends in Morgantown at WVU, also any other interaction he would have with his family, or simply anything outdoors. His was undoubtably an extreme WVU fan of any sport and loved experiencing these moments with his friends and family. His attitude and spirit were always positively driven and motivated to make everyone around him smile. All who knew Cam thought he was the most respectful, kind, funny, and selfless person. Even through the most challenging times, Cam maintained a positive attitude and outlook on life and lived everyday to the fullest.

​Service arrangements by Allen’s Funeral Home in Hurricane, WV. Friends and family may pay their final respects during a visitation service at Valley Park in Hurricane, WV from 11 A.M. to 1 with a Funeral service stating at 1:00 P.M. A private graveside service will immediately follow at Valley View Cemetery.

​In lieu of flowers, the family requests everyone to consider becoming an organ donor.
