Barbara May Kahre (nee Pratt), age 100, died May 12, 2026 at The Arthur B. Hodges Center of the Edgewood Summit retirement community in Charleston, West Virginia.
She was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, the fourth of five children of Charles H. and Bertha M. Pratt. Her 1948 marriage to Edward L. Kahre, a US Navy sailor who became a high school mathematics teacher, took her many places including 46 years in the Willow Springs, Missouri area. In 2011 she moved to Edgewood Summit.
Survivors include son Jim Kahre (Debbie) of Hurricane, West Virginia; granddaughters Sarah Kahre of Tallahassee, Florida and Laura Kahre of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; sister-in-law Mary Kahre of Mount Vernon, Missouri; and nieces and nephews in seven states.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 30 at 1 pm in the Yarber Mortuary chapel in Willow Springs. The family is receiving visitors there from 12 pm until time for the service. Inurnment will be in the Willow Springs City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider memorial contributions to the Willow Springs Scholarship Club; PO Box 484; Willow Springs, MO 65793.
