Wanda Jean Burden

Wanda “Jean” Burden went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 30, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. 

Jean was born February 11, 1948 to late Thomas and Phala Shirkey of Hurricane.  She attended Hurricane Church of Nazarene.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, William Franklin Burden; son, William Alex Burden (Michelle Riddle) of Hurricane; daughter, Brandy Michelle Sowards (Jody Sowards) of Scott Depot; grandchildren, Sierra Hope Burden of New York, William Cody Burden and Brogan Allen Sowards of Scott Depot, Brooklyn Nichole Ferrell of Hurricane; two brothers, Bill Shirkey (Pat) and Roger Shirkey (Loretta) both of Hurricane; sister, Carolyn Sue Lewis (Albert) of Milton and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 3rd at 11 a.m. at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Sowards, Rev. Ronnie Brown and Rev. Sonny Sovine officiating.   Burial will be held at Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2nd, from 6-8 p.m. at Allen Funeral Home.
