Stephen Allen Gillispie, 77, of Teays Valley, passed away on March 13, 2019 at Broadmore Assisted Living. He was born in Charleston, WV on February 23, 1942, to Curtis and Garnett Gillispie.
Steve graduated from St. Albans High School and attended West Virginia State College. He served four years in the US Air Force and then began his career with C&P Telephone (later Bell Atlantic) until his retirement from Verizon. He was honored as a life member of the American Radio Relay League and was recognized by his call sign K8LZ. He enjoyed the outdoors and took great pride in his lawn and flowers. He was an avid bird-watcher and was recognized for spotting a very rare bird near Winfield. In his later years, Steve spent a great deal of time fishing whenever possible.
