Myrtle Othel Epling

Myrtle Othel Epling, 96, a lifelong resident of Hurricane died Friday the 24th of November at CAMC Teays Valley.  Born in 1921, Othel was homemaker, a mother and grandmother, and a woman of creative talents, who is said to have been able “to make something out of nothing.” During her life she enjoyed bowling and being with her family. Othel took pride in her family and loved looking at her collection of family photos every evening before bed. She attended First Baptist Church in Hurricane and her Bible remains a centerpiece on her dining room table.

Mrs. Epling was preceded in death by her parents, Othern  Dayton “Date” Searls and Nora Hodges Searls, her husband Harold W. Epling, her sisters Eula Stephenson, Maxine Bird, Loreda Chapman, Maudell Adkins, and brothers Calvin Searls and Kenneth Searls. She is survived by her daughter Bonita Holstein and her husband Bob, daughter Karen Atkins and her husband David, grand-daughters Tamara Holstein of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Karla Hilliard and husband Doug of Martinsburg, WV, grandsons William Holstein and wife Tricia, Bradley Atkins of Hurricane, and great-granddaughters Addy and Lily Hilliard.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 Monday, November 27, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Losh officiating, Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12 til 1 prior to the service. Please visit allenfuneralhomewv.com to share memories and condolences.
