McDonald Wayne Caldwell Obituary

McDonald Wayne Caldwell

On Friday, November 30, 2018 at 1:50am our father, Wayne “Bill” rode his Gold Wing through the gates of Heaven.  His three kids, Pam, Rex and Regina and sister Dale stayed by his bedside until his last breath. No more pain, suffering or sorrow.  He fought a good fight because he knew how precious life is and didn’t want to leave his family. Born McDonald Wayne Caldwell on March 17, 1943 in Rock Branch.  He was the son of the late Ernest Caldwell and Kathleen (McCormick) Caldwell of Rt 60, Hurricane, WV. He went to school in Hurricane, WV where he picked up the nickname “Tank.”  He married our mother, Dorothy Wooten in 1963. Dad worked at J&L Steel, MTD Products and owned his own towing business in Cleveland, Oh.  He moved to Alabama and retired there as a welder.   He moved back to WV and spent his last years with his family. He attended the Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene. Dad loved old hot rods and rode his motorcycle across the country.  He will be remembered by his slick black Rockabilly haircut.  His one and only granddaughter recently told him “Papaw, you were a hottie!” He was our hero, the myth, our legend. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his younger brother Terry Caldwell. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Pamela Caldwell Dunlap of Hurricane, WV, Rex Caldwell and his wife Charlotte of Hurricane, Regina Wright and husband Daniel of Kentucky.  His grandkids, were the apple of his eye, Justin and Aaron Caldwell, Dana and Noah Wright, great granddaughter Rylee Johnson, Sisters Nadine Green, (Curtis deceased) Lois Dale Caldwell Young, (Sonny deceased), Judy Lovejoy (Roy deceased) and many nieces and nephews.  Services will be at 1:00PM Monday December 3, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, WV with Pastor Phil Bower and Pastor Mark Ice officiating.  Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the Funeral Home. Online condolences can be expressed to the family at allenfuneralhomewv.com. Special thanks to the ICU Unit/Doctors at CAMC Teays Valley for their angelic care of our father during his 2 1/2 month fight.
