Mary Ellen Hughes

Mary Ellen Hughes, 90 of Hurricane, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2018.  She was surrounded by family and friends.

Mary was born in Putnam County and lived the majority of her life in Hurricane. Mary Ellen was a source of information regarding the family history of the Hurricane area.  She had a quick wit that will be missed by everyone who knew her. 

A long-time member of Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, Mary Ellen was very active in all its ministries.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her loving husband Elmer Hughes; brother Dick Runion; sister Charlotte Curtiss.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Kathryn Hughes of Hurricane, Ed Hughes (Cheryl) of Memphis, TN, two grandchildren Jessica (Joseph) Oakley, James Hughes, sister Marg Hacker, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family and friends will be 6 to 8 Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home 2837 Main Street, Hurricane, WV. Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Phil Bower officiating.  Burial to follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
