Grace "Jean" Ellajean (Maynard) Beckett

Grace (Jean) Ellajean Maynard Beckett, 92, formerly of Hurricane, WV, went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2018, surrounded by her family.  Jean was born February 18, 1925, in Hurricane, WV, to Ralph and Lena Keeling Maynard.  She had one brother, William “Buck” Maynard.

Jean had worked at the Kanawha County Library and cooked at Hurricane Elementary School, but the role she most loved was that of wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of Grace Baptist Temple before moving to Jacksonville, Florida, eight years ago.  She enjoyed cooking, church activities and spending time with her family. She truly had a life well-lived, and to know her was to love her.

Those preceding her in death, awaiting her heavenly arrival, are her husband, Clinton; son, Doug; great-granddaughter, Emily Grace Sturgill; brother and sister-in-law, Buck and Dorothy Maynard, and parents, Ralph and Lena Maynard.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Kathy (Bruce) Casto of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Beth Beckett of Indianapolis, IN; granddaughter Erin Casto (Ron) Sturgill and their daughters, Hannah and Audrey of Jacksonville, FL; granddaughter Sara Casto (David) Buckingham of Upper Marlboro, MD; Sabrina Beckett of Bonita Springs, FL; NatashaGibson (Toma) Fuller and their daughters, Luna and Eliza of Boone, NC; grandson Ryan (Tara) Beckett, and their sons, Bradley, Jackson and Nathan of Hurricane; and grandson Tyler Beckett of Hurricane.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m.,  Allen Funeral Home, on Tuesday with the Rev. Jerry Losh officiating.  Burial will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Turkey Creek.  Friends may call from 6 to 8pm on Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 2837 Main Street, Hurricane, WV.
