Geraldine Melton

Geraldine was born on October 6, 1931. She grew up on Hurricane Creek Road near Hurricane WV. She graduated from Hurricane High School in 1949. She married James E. Melton in 1952. They had two children which blessed them with 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She taught math at the George Washington Middle School in Eleanor WV for 20 years. She graduated West Virginia State college with a Masters Degree in education. She loved making baskets and was well know for her quilting. She was a member of the Quilt Lovers Guild and one of her quilts “Happy Birthday West Virginia” having been displayed in the West Virginia Cultural Center. 
Geraldine is survived by:  Sister: Linda Porreca (Hodges), Sister in law: Delores Webber (Melton), Children: William R. Melton and wife Nancy C. Melton, Beverly A. Allison (Melton) and husband Kenneth W. Allison, grand children: William R. Melton II wife Melissa Melton, Jedidiah K. Allison wife Kendra Allison, Anna M. Snider (Allison) husband Michael Snider, Patricia G. Martin (Allison) husband Timothy Martin, Eli Allison, Gabriel Allison. Great grandchildren: Kaylee Melton, Lillyana Martin, William Allison, Zachary Snider, Olivia Allison, Parker Snider, Malachi Martin, Aurora Cooper-Brown, Sarah Snider, Luram Allison, Norah Allison, Abbigail Snider, Benjamin Martin, Owen Allison. Preceded in death by: Husband : James E. Melton
Father and Mother: Vincent Hodges and Viola M. Hodges (McDowell) Sisters: Janice Gilfillen (Hodges), and Elizabeth Gibson (Hodges)Friends will be received at Allen Funeral Home 2837 Main St, Hurricane, WV on Thursday, November 22nd from 6 til 8 and the funeral service will be held on Friday November 23 at 11:00 with Kenneth Allison officiating, burial will follow in Fraziers Bottom Cemetery.
