Donald Gene Rayburn

Donald Gene Rayburn, 78, of Hurricane, WV, left his earthly body on Friday, June 8, 2018, due to complications from renal dialysis.  Despite suffering years of serious medical problem, he never complained.  

Don was born on October 13, 1939, in Huntington, WV.  He was the son of the late Claude and Maxine Rayburn of Barboursville, WV.  Don was a member of the Hurricane Church of Christ and was a talented, self-taught, upholsterer who was well known for his work.  He enjoyed helping his friends restore their classic cars and visiting with friends who would stop by his shop.  He was only a few weeks short of his 20 year liver transplant anniversary.  He never met a stranger and will always be remembered for his kind and loving manner.

Don is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 53 years, Sandra Kay (Young) Rayburn.  Daughters, Kimberly (Doug) Parsons of Scott Depot, WV, and Debra (Bernie) Childers of Barboursville, WV.  Grandchildren  Jordan (Matt) Harris of Morgantown, WV, Madison and Matthew Childers of Barboursville, WV, and  Ryan and Chase Parsons of Scott Depot, WV.   Great-grandsons Decker and Stellan Harris of Morgantown, WV.  

The family would like to thank Fresenius Dialysis in Scott Depot for their caring staff.  They would also like to thank Dr. Charles Bukovinsky and Dr. Leonard Fichter for years of support.  

Visitation will be held at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane, on Tuesday, June 12th, from 6-7 pm.  The funeral service will follow immediately afterwards.  Burial will take place on June 13th at Valley View Memorial in Hurricane, WV.
