Della M (Meadows) Patterson

Della Meadows Patterson, 94, of Hurricane, passed away December 23, 2017 at Midland Meadows Senior Living. She was born December 13, 1923, in Alkol, WV to Arval Meadows and Roxie Della Curry Meadows. Due to her mother’s death during childbirth, Della was raised by Henry Mack and Myrtle Meadows Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard G. Patterson, brothers Turman, James, Ronald, Leo, Reldo and Matthew Meadows and sisters Nellie Lane, Nina Chaffin and Mary Pauley. Della enjoyed travel and her time living in Germany and Japan while her husband was in active military. She retired as the secretary from the Defense Construction Supply Center in Columbus, OH. Della donated many hours to community service and was a Past Worthy Matron of Beacon Chapter #593 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Hurricane, WV to be closer to family where she became a member of Forest Burdette United Methodist Church. Services will be held 11:00  a.m., Thursday, December 28, at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor Ellis Conley officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral with burial in Valley View Cemetery, Hurricane. The family appreciates the great kindness and care Della received while a resident at Midland Meadows and her care from Hospice of Huntington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, Fl 33607.
