Delbert Lee Adkins, age 93 of Hurricane, WV, went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2018, after a short illness. Delbert graduated from Hurricane High School in 1943, retired from Avtex in Nitro, he was an active member of Young's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and had been a member of the IOOF for many years. Delbert lived his life serving his Lord, Jesus Christ and was loved by all. Delbert was a loving husband; father and grandfather and was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and lda Gertrude Adkins; brothers, Harvey Adkins and Ivan Adkins and sister, Frances Courtright. Delbert is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, 11 months, Ruby Maxine (Grass) Adkins; children, Debbie Tippey (Kurt) of Dayton, Ohio, Marshall Adkins (Jackie) of Hurricane and Curtis Adkins (Jennie) of Hurricane; sisters, Grace Martin of Delaware and Mildred Hinkley of Culloden; brother, Virgil Adkins of Hurricane; grandchildren, Lindsey McCracken (Vance), Cara Lisuzzo (Guy), Brent Adkins (Amanda), Joshua Tippey, Samuel Tippey, Christopher Adkins and Matthew Adkins. A two hour visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16 followed by a service at Allen Funeral Home, 2837 Main Street, Hurricane with chaplain Pete Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Griffith Cemetery.
