Junior G Bays

Junior Gay Bays, age 97, of Hamlin, WV,  joined his Heavenly Father on April 12, 2024.

Junior was born in Putnam County, WV to the late Outher Elmer and Garnett Bays on February 26, 1927. His early life instilled in him a great work ethic and ingenuity. Junior married Christina Lovejoy on January 25, 1945 sharing 77 years of marriage. He joined the United States Army later the same year and proudly served as a rifleman and truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion Milton Post 139 for over 60 years.

Junior was a farmer the majority of his life, and he enjoyed tinkering on projects in his garage. He lived a full life and will be remembered for his infectious sense of humor and many stories.

Junior is preceded in death by his wife, Christina Bays, and was blessed with a large and loving family— daughters Linda Bailey and Connie (Roger Garland) Chaney; sons Mike Landers and Bob (Bethany) Bays; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and twenty-one great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane, WV. Visitation will begin at 11:00AM and the funeral service at 12:00PM with Rev. David Vickers and Pete Trenum officiating. Burial will follow at Lawson Cemetery in Hamlin, WV.
