Eben Cross Comer

Eben Cross Comer, 91, of Hurricane passed away at his home on June 26, 2017. Born June 30, 1925 in Duck, WV. He was the son of the late William Webster and Velma Comer. He was also preceded in death by his brothers William Richard Comer of Duck and Herman Holt of Hurricane, WV.

He is survived by his loyal and loving wife of 70 years, Thelma “Louise” Comer, daughter Karen Louise Dotson, sons John Cross and Gregory Elton Comer and sister Cora Etta Taylor of Cross Lanes, WV. Grandchildren include Chad Michael and Celeste Michelle Gilbert, Johnnie Cross Comer and Jennifer Yun, Patrick and Janie Nelson Mills, Stacy Hay and Stephanie Jo Comer. Great grandchildren include Kaylee Danielle, Liberty Adalyn Mac, Jack Cross, Adin, Julian, Jake, Michael and Emma Lou Hay.

Mr. Comer was employed by Union Carbide for 15 years. He also worked as an independent long-distance truck driver for 20 years. After retiring from trucking, he drove for Enterprise Car Rental for 15 years. He served his country as a member of the Merchant Marine’s during WWII. We will remember dad’s dedication to family and love for all who knew him. He was particularly a lover of all animals which include his 4lb dog and his 14lb Cat, and numerous squirrels and birds. Funeral Service will be 1:00 Monday, July 3, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Art Hage officiating, Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery.
