After five years of service the couple then made their way back to West Virginia and Charles then worked for Coca Cola in Clarksburg, WV for five years. Later he began his long career with Kroger, starting as a part-time clerk and worked his way up to serve as a manager in several locations including Dunbar, Elkins, Charlottesville and after 33 years with the company, Charles eventually retired in Mechanicsville, VA.
